Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy:
Alternative Treatment for Lupus Disease

What is Lupus?

Lupus is a chronic disease with a variety of symptoms caused by inflammation in one or more parts of the body. It is estimated that it affects more than 50,000 Canadians and 1.5 million Americans. Lupus is not contagious and is not related to AIDS or cancer. It belongs in the family of diseases that includes rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, juvenile diabetes, and scleroderma.

What are the symptoms of lupus?
A person with lupus may experience:
1. Joint pain, sometimes with swelling, redness and heat
2. A red rash across upper cheeks and bridge of the nose
3. Extreme fatigue
4. An unusual reaction to sunlight
5. A red scaly rash
6. Small, usually painless sores inside the nose or mouth
7. Chest pain, worse when lying down or inhaling
8. Swelling of feet and legs, weight gain
9. Seizures or severe psychological symptoms
10. Abnormalities in blood chemistry which show up in blood tests

How can Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy improves Lupus Disease and Other Non-Healing Wounds conditions?
During HBO therapy, you breathe oxygen under pressure, and far higher amounts of oxygen flood the body, dissolving in your plasma and reaching all your cells. This pressurized oxygen treatment increased ability of white blood cells to destroy bacteria, greater production of fibroblasts (cells necessary for wound healing), growth of new blood vessels, and stimulation of damaged cells such as brain neurons. Super oxygen saturation of tissue stops the spread of certain toxins and enhances the killing of bacteria, speeding the healing of difficult or antibiotic-resistant infections. That’s why oxygen given with increased pressure can correct many serious health problems. Studies have shown that difficult and disabling conditions such a multiple sclerosis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Lyme disease, cerebral palsy, brain trauma, and stroke, all improve in astonishing ways with this treatment.
